![]() ![]() I kind of assumed what you said about the source repos but left it anyway, thanks for confirming my suspicions. That sources file was generated during the install by the installer in 'expert mode' based on my choices, everything except the deb-multimedia, the thinking there was if apt is supposed to install the highest version, if a higher version is found in either testing or Jessie, that would be the one installed. Thank you for answering and your advice, I am considering trying a stable install. If you simply want it to work, I would suggest stable. Mixing sid and testing is not usually a big problem, as long as you are aware of what is going on.įinally, you chose to run testing, so test, and file some bug reports. You have duplicate entries for deb-multimedia (jessie=testing).ĭeb-multimedia includes some packages that can cause issues with packages supplied by debian. I have my user in all the right groups, etc, here's one final note, in the last test install, I briefly changed my repos to sid to satisfy dependencies for DVDStyler and both K3b and DVDStyler worked, I am thinking the dependencies for both programs are outdated in the Jessie repos.ĭilberts_left_nut wrote:In your sources.list, you can comment out the deb-src lines if you are not compiling your own packages.Īlso there is no jessie-backports, jessie-updates or jessie/updates. ![]() # jessie-backports, previously on ĭeb jessie-backports main contrib non-freeĭeb-src jessie-backports main contrib non-freeĪt least something works (Bombono & Brasero), that's not a dig but in all honesty, it pains me to say this, I didn't have problems with DVDStyler or K3b in the *buntu based distros I came from, I came back to Debian on purpose because of the direction Ubuntu (the 'mothership' and all her baby distros, lol, the funny part is they act like they wrote if from the ground up) is headed, I didn't want to wait until they pull the plug or lock it down. # jessie-updates, previously known as 'volatile'ĭeb jessie-updates main contrib non-freeĭeb-src jessie-updates main contrib non-free My install is pretty straight forward, here's a copy of my sources.list:Ĭode: Select all deb jessie main non-free contribĭeb jessie/updates main contrib non-freeĭeb-src jessie/updates main contrib non-free My writer is a decent 16x DVD writer, it burns fine in a 'copied to ram' live distro, I normally burn at 8x for reliability reasons (I find burning top speed is flakey, on any machine), I even tried slowing it down to 4x, did the same thing at 98%.īrasero works but it totally ignores writing speed settings, this is also a common problem I found after doing some research. K3b, I'm really shocked, it's usually as solid as a rock, this is the first time I've ever had a problem with it, what happens is, when it gets to about 98%, it errors, "input-output error". I know DVDStyler is multi-platform and KDE is not the 'native' desktop but the only things I can make DVDs with is Bombono and Brasero (how ironic, lol), Bombono is actually pretty good once you learn how to use it and most importantly, it works.Īnyway, in DeVeDe, when I get to the point where I have to pick the output folder, it won't let me, the program just crashes when I click on 'Other', disappears from the screen and I lose all the work I put in to creating the DVD.ĭVDStyler won't even create menus ("Cannot open output format.Error creation of menu"), this seems to be a common problem, did some surfing about it.
